Storm Damage Remodel

Storm Damage Remodel

Location: Southeast Cape Coral, Florida

Remodeling Project Details:

When Hurricane Ian swept through Southwest Florida in September 2022, it left widespread devastation in its path. Southeast Cape Coral was among the hardest-hit areas, with significant flooding and storm damage impacting countless homes. One of these homes belonged to our client, who endured over two years of negotiations with her homeowner’s insurance company before securing the funds needed to restore her property.

The Hawaiian Contractor was entrusted with the complete interior remodel of this storm-damaged home. The project began with a full demolition of the interior walls to four feet high and removal of all existing flooring, down to the bare concrete.

Despite facing delays related to the city’s permitting process, The Hawaiian Contractor successfully met the agreed-upon project timeline, allowing the homeowners to return to their fully restored residence as quickly as possible.

The homeowners were thrilled with the craftsmanship and care brought to every detail of their remodel, turning the aftermath of a devastating storm into a beautiful new beginning.

Key elements of the remodel included:

  • Drywall Repair & Interior Finishes: Damaged drywall was cut out and replaced. The entire interior received fresh sheetrock repairs and a full repainting for a clean, renewed appearance.
  • Custom Flooring Installation: The floors were replaced throughout the home with elegant wood-look ceramic tile in a 6″ x 48″ plank format. The tiles were laid with random joints and minimal 1/16″ grout lines, achieving a natural, seamless look.
  • Updated Doors & Trim: New base moldings, interior doors, and trim were installed to enhance the home’s modern aesthetic and complete the cohesive design.
  • Impact-Resistant Openings: For added storm protection and peace of mind, two new impact sliding glass doors were installed in the kitchen along with a new impact-rated overhead garage door and motor.
  • Kitchen Renovation: The kitchen received all-new cabinetry and finishes, transforming it into a bright, functional space tailored to the homeowner’s style and needs.
  • Master Bath Upgrade: The existing master bathroom featured a traditional curb shower. This was converted into a stylish, zero-entry shower, improving both accessibility and contemporary appeal.
