This project involved converting an outdated bathtub into a modern walk in shower for improved accessibility and ease of use. The homeowner wanted a quick, cost effective solution for an investment property, without relocating plumbing or triggering a lengthy permit process.

The existing cast iron tub and wall tile were removed down to the studs. A high quality multi piece fiberglass shower system was installed using an offset drain, allowing the existing drain location to remain unchanged. A new Moen shower valve was installed by a licensed plumber, and the existing CPVC water lines were inspected and confirmed to be in excellent condition, eliminating the need for a full repipe.

Because no drain relocation or full bathroom remodel was required, this conversion was completed quickly and efficiently. Without glass enclosures, the project timeline can be as short as two to three days. The result is a durable, low maintenance walk in shower that provides safer access and long term reliability. Grab bars with proper wall backing can also be added for homeowners with mobility concerns.

This option represents the most affordable way to convert a tub into a walk in shower while still using higher quality materials than typical one day bath companies.
